Robert has lived in Kingsfold, a small hamlet in the ward, almost continuously for the past sixty years and has worked here for more than forty years in the horticultural industry. He has previously been a Warnham parish councillor for some nineteen years and a Horsham District Councillor for twelve years, having held a number of positions, including cabinet member and Leader of Council. Robert has a history of involvement in local community activities, as founding Chairman of Horsham in Bloom, Chairman of the Horsham Citizens Advice and Chairman of Horsham and Crawley Counselling Service, to name a few.
Roberts top priorities are the local ward matters. Also important to him is the local economy and the efficiency with which the council is run.
Horsham District Council has been successfully engaging in commercial activities, which reduces the level of council tax and Robert would like to see these activities continued.
Robert believes that the environment is especially important and that, too often, environmental policies are formulated with good intentions, without any real understanding of the long term impact, the consequences of which can be counter productive.
He feels that everyone should be able to secure their own home, in the place they want to live but that to achieve this is exceptionally difficult and is a balance between the people’s needs, especially the young, and the environmental impact of the construction of the homes required and associated facilities.
