I moved to Horsham 24 years ago following the merger between Sun Alliance and Royal Insurance and have recently retired following a long career in Information Technology. I have thoroughly enjoyed living in this beautiful part of our country.
I have an extensive background in local government having been a District Councillor for Southwater for 8 years and served on the Southwater Parish Council for over 14 years. I have also been a school governor in two West Sussex local authority schools. My involvement in politics goes back much further and I first stood in a council election during my time at Leeds University in 1986. Later I served for four years as Councillor on Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council.
I am a passionate advocate of local democracy and ensuring it delivers the best possible services for local residents. One key area of service delivery is Information Technology. The knowledge gained during my professional IT career gives me a great understanding of how the effective use of technology can support delivery of services and how further improvements can be made.
Change has been a constant throughout the time I have lived in Horsham. The challenge we face is to ensure we preserve the best aspects of our community whilst embracing new technologies and ways of working to further improve our communities.
