At a meeting of full Council held on 22 February 2023, Horsham District Council (HDC) set the Council’s financial and capital budget for the coming financial year, which starts in April.
Last year HDC replaced all the lights in its multi-storey car parks with LED lighting. By replacing the 387 lights in Swan Walk car park this reduced the Council’s carbon emissions by nearly 19,000kg a year, as well as saving around £11,000 in energy bills.
Conservative run Horsham District Council (HDC) has reduced its direct carbon footprint by some 57% since 2019/20, when it committed to being carbon neutral by 2030. This equates to approximately 1,300 less tonnes of carbon being emitted.
In light of the recent announcement by the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Michael Gove MP, the Conservative Group at Horsham District Council (HDC) have taken the decision to pause HDC’s Local Plan before moving on to the next stage.
As a result of collaboration between Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council, the largest-ever local authority roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) charging points in the UK was launched this summer across Horsham.
